Osun APPPS urges Osun elected lawmakers to fulfil campaign promises

The Association of Progressive Political Parties in the State of Osun (Osun APPPS) has advised all the elected lawmakers from the state in the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the House of Senate not to break their campaign promises made to their electorates during and after this year general elections.

The group in a statement signed by Mr. Wole Adedoyin, its State Chairman who is also the Chairman of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) stated that defaulting on their promises would amount to profanity and betrayal of trust.

“Citizens and government development efforts should work side by side. However, in this situation some projects of the past elected lawmakers are almost non-existing in some communities. We are urging elected lawmakers in either State Assembly or House of Representatives and Senate from the state to rise and discharge their democratic obligation by bringing dividends of democracy to their electorates” Adedoyin said.

Osun APPPS finally urged Osun Citizens to report any elected House of Assembly, Rep or Senate members who fail to embark on community development projects from the Constituency development funds given to them by the Federal government or diverted the funds for personal use to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

The Association of Progressive Political Parties, the umbrella body of progressive political parties in the State of Osun (Osun APPPS) has lauded the executive governor of the state, His Excellency, Gboyega Oyetola on the recent dredging order to maintain the appropriate width and depth for enabling the safe, unobstructed passage of flood and flowing water via Osun streams, lakes and rivers. The order on sanitation and waste management given by Governor Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola would bring about cleanliness, orderliness and reduction in the flooding of the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the State Chairman and Secretary of the Association, Mr. Wole Adedoyin (State Chairman of the Hope Democratic Party-HDP) and Elder Adeloye Ogunmodede (State Chairman of the Action Alliance –AA) in Osogbo on Sunday.

On the need for the governor’s order, Mr. Adedoyin said some part of the state is currently too dirty and now the rainy season is here, all wastes are being washed down into the canals and drains.

Mr. Adedoyin further said that the action of the Governor was necessary to forestall flooding in various communities in the state during this fast imminent rainy season. It is also of note that the immediate effects of poor waste management take its toll on residents in the communities and not the government.

He however called for the support of the Community Development Associations (CDA), Local Government (LG) and LCDA’s Chairmen, to encourage residents to practice the new measures to improve upon the botched sanitation process in the state.

Osun APPPS finally urged Osun residents to desist from dumping refuse into the drains because menace of flooding, stench from indiscriminate waste disposal and possible epidemics will not affect the government but rather residents in the communities.
